This is a detail shot of a larger (54" x 22") mixed media piece, "Heir Loom." I used snapshots from my grandparents' albums and printed them on vellum. I then sewed the pieces together into a sort of "quilt," using my hair as the only bond.
This is a second detail shot of a larger (54" x 22") mixed media piece, "Heir Loom." I used snapshots from my grandparents' albums and printed them on vellum. I then sewed the pieces together into a sort of "quilt," using my hair as the only bond.
This is a medium-format gelatin silver print I made in 2008. Because the source of light was covered in red cellophane, the entire scene had an eerie red glow to it; however, when photographed in black-and-white, the image has a soft, whispery quality.
This is a gelatin silver print of political setup created by a street artist in Boston. It consists of rows of thousands of dog tags from soldiers who were deported to Afghanistan and Iraq.
From a new series I finished about two weeks ago. Shot entirely in-camera; no post-editing work in Photoshop whatsoever.
For this series I used a macro lens to photograph a Barbie doll. My objective was to study Barbie as a figurative, formal subject, and to create lifelike photographs of her. The texture of her "skin" is remarkably lifelike and fascinating to me.
This is from a series of "snapshots" taken in the domestic microcosm known as a dollhouse. Each gelatin silver print is about 3.5" long.
This medium-format gelatin silver print is entitled "The Private Showing." Part of a series inspired by Robert & Shana ParkeHarrison, here I caught the Everyman in the act of hanging an art show for his eyes only.
The first images I shot inside the dollhouse pictured in #6 were part of a softer, more surreal series gelatin silver prints tinted with brown toner.
The master bedroom features breathtaking double windows, a fabulous staircase to nowhere, and a luxurious floating mass of hair.
This is a detail shot of a larger mixed-media piece set in a suitcase, entitled "Such Potential." The piece involves "fuses" from precious objects leading to a block of highly-flammable glycerin surrounding a lighter in the middle.
Set inside this small box is a vellum print of my great-grandmother on her wedding day. This was the only three-dimensional piece selected for the 2007 photography exhibition "Trick of the Light" at Manifest Gallery.
This is a detail shot of my installation from the exhibition Camera Obscura at Prairie Gallery in Cincinnati, Ohio.
